There are many great reasons to change career and become a plumber so why not look into taking plumbing courses?

With the economy showing signs of recovery, there has never been a better time to enrol on plumbing courses so that you are fully qualified by the time the construction industry is back to full strength.

There are regular reports that the plumbing sector is suffering from a skills shortage so there is always demand for tradesmen with the appropriate training and industry recognised qualifications.

Another benefit of completing plumbing courses is that an experienced plumber can enjoy a considerable salary which can rise further through emergency plumbing tasks and long hours.

There are few requirements to start learning to becoming a plumber as you do not necessarily need previous experience or knowledge of tacking plumbing tasks although this would be an advantage.

Every training provider will have instructors and assessors with years of experience that will be able to teach you everything you require to start a new career in the plumbing industry.

It can take years to train to become a fully qualified plumber so trainees must prepare for months of learning practical plumbing tasks as well as important theory and health and safety requirements.

Plumbing courses are typically taught during the week from 9 to 5 although some institutes can offer evening and weekend training which is ideal for people already in employment who want to change career.

The nationally recognised City & Guilds 6189 qualification is the first step to take to become a plumber, which recently replaced the City & Guilds 6129 as the entry route into the industry.

This qualification costs in the region of £4000 and this may be a considerable amount but you must think of it an investment towards your future, which can be recouped once you start earning a solid salary.

There are regular reports of trainee plumbers being misled by institutes that promise them the skills to become a fully qualified plumber in a matter of weeks, however, this is not possible.

Becoming a fully qualified plumber can take years of learning so you must be prepared for the long haul and avoid training centres that promise quick fix qualifications.

If you are unsure about the reputation of a training centre, then you should research whether previous students were happy with their learning and you can do this by searching internet forums.
